Howland, Hannah M. Manuscript Family Records. Conway MA ca1811 Hardcover Good+; Spine lacks half inch at each end, otherwise general moderate wear. 8vo; Leather and marbled boards, 7 1/2" by 6," 12 pages of mss. text (still using the long s) plus blank leaves. **First entry: "This monument preserves the memory of Capt. Elisha Clarke who died 19 Sept. 1811, ae.77... The life of Capt. Clarke was protracted to a good old age having enjoyed a long series of domestic peace and exhibited an amiable example of original and parental fidelity as well as other domestic charitable virtues." There follows a similar monumet to the memory of Mrs. Hannah Clarke, wife. After this it becomes a list of birth, death and marriage. **Loosely inserted is a single page record of Benjamin Kilburn b.1807, ending at 1852. Also a two page record of the family of Charles & Polly Morton, a three page record of Mercy Clark, daughter of Elisha and Hannah, ending in 1873.., two single sheet records (Stockbridge & Clark), and the extensive newspaper obit (ca,1882) oof Col. Henry Howland. Half of the obit details the finding of his body in a Canal at Rochester and the details of his recent life up to that point. Price:
