Doddridge, P. [Philip] Some Remarkable Passages, In The Life Of The Hon. Col. James Gairdiner, Who Was Slain At the Battle of Preston Pans, September 21, 1745. to Which is Added, the Sermon, Occasioned by His Heroick Death.
Hardcover Poor; Lacks front board, title page and first two leaves of dedication. Rear board is detached, several leaves torn and mended with thread.
12mo; 263 pages; Leather, 263p. **While being incomplete this copy does have the half-title which our 1795 and 1811 copies never had. In this copy the first signature appears to have been in fours, with us only having the first leaf. The fifth leaf, being the last leaf of the dedication, is mounted on a stub. The balance of the text is in sixes. The pagination does not allow for the hymn following the sermon. The pagination does not agree with any edition in Shipton & Mooney or in Shaw Shoemaker up to 1820. The long S is used and the paper appears to be nearer to 1747 paper then the other editions we have.
