NY Harper & Brothers 1836 Hardcover Quarter inch ink blot in imprint, lacks original spine but stitching and hinges are sound.
Miniature; 48mo 3½" - 4" tall; Old black oilcloth over original leather covered boards, 9cm by 6.3cm, 818p., portrait. **The engraved title page reads: The Ladies Reticule Companion, or Little Lexicon of the English Language; dated 1834. American Imprint #36769. **This book was owned and inscribed by John E. Shaw, Co. F, 78th Pennsylvania Volunteers. Shaw volunteered 10-12-1861, and was discharged 11-04-64. At the Battle of Chattanoga the 78th served in the 3rd Brigade under Brig. Gen. Starkweather. Shaw has put his name, unit, and location on five pages. One of them is dated June 4th, 1863.
